Museum Worth the Visit

This museum is definitely worth the visit. Among other things, the permanent collection includes Millard Fillmore's Carriage and the gun used to assassinate President McKinley. Some of the permanent exhibits are getting old and should be reworked. The building (one of only two buildings from the Pan-American exhibition) is falling into desrepair because of its lack of funding, and portions of the basement that could be used to house new exhibits are closed to visitors. The other remaining building from the Pan-Am is/was (I'm not quite sure) on display in the resource center on Forest Avenue. Kids will especially enjoy the Rail Barons' model railroad that operates during the winter. Also, its resource center on nearby Forest Ave. was recently opened to the public for the first time. All in all a wonderful experience, and a great place to look deeper into the culture and legacy of the Niagara Frontier.
Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly Staff
Cons: Old exhibits, Building in disrepair
